Valerie Ramsey is a firm believer that life is an adventure we create for ourselves and that we are never too old to have a new dream or to celebrate a new success. She has lived her life in direct contrast to most peoples’ by transitioning from baby bottles in her 20s and 30s (she is the mother of six) to a public relations career with the famed Pebble Beach Resorts in her 50s to a modeling career, author and speaker in her 60s.
For many years she was a stay-at-home mother raising her large family. Then, at age 53, with the children grown, she knew that she wanted to have a career of her own, and she went to work for Pebble Beach Resorts, working her way up from an entry level position to becoming public relations & media manager. Just as she was assuming her new role at Pebble Beach, she was diagnosed with both cancer and heart disease. Determined not to give in, she fought and overcame both. It was in the course of her public relations role a few years later that she was spotted by a Hollywood producer which soon led to a contract with a San Francisco modeling agency and then to Ford models. At age 63 a second career was born.
Since her 50s, her life has continued to evolve and flourish in ways she never would have dreamed possible. She is the author of Gracefully – Looking & Being Your Best at Any Age, co-written with Heather Hummel. In her wonderfully inspiring speeches, Valerie shares a lifetime of wisdom on transitioning through life’s stages, finding the “What’s Next” in her own life and the lives of others, and sharing insider secrets and practical advice on how to look and be your best – inside and out – at any age.
Now 72, Valerie has recently relocated to the south Atlantic coast of Florida where she has taken on many new ventures. She is under contract with Wilhelmina Models in Miami Beach and New York City, Ben Barry Models in Toronto and Masters Models Silver in Paris. When she is not away on modeling assignments, she continues to give inspirational speeches for the American Heart Assoc. and many other organizations.

It’s for all ages…
It’s for all ages because those critical child-raising years are when a woman should plan for her future after the children are grown. “I knew the day was going to come that they would go on and I wanted to be ready for it. I would journal about it and visualize it. I also knew that I had to be in good physical and mental shape. So, I never let myself go and I always dressed up even if running errands.”
Ramsey’s overall message to women is to “love yourself enough to take care of yourself.” She is not about anti-aging, but about healthy aging, and gives advice for doing just that.
